Regeneratively grown ingredients

Forested’s team is based in East Africa, where we partner with smallholder farmers and land stewards to harmonize agriculture production and planetary health. With respect for indigenous methods and local contexts, we invest in projects with communities that advance regenerative farming and conservation efforts. Farming communities receive additional income for support with primary data collection on carbon, nature, and community impact, which is subsequently verified by independent third parties.

For those interested in our Insetting Program , Forested provides third-party verified Scope 3 emissions reduction credits for value chain actors. Stay tuned for updates on our upcoming Castor Pilot!

OUR PRINCIPLES

Regenerative agriculture is the ongoing farming practice to ensure nature's landscapes and its communities - both producers and wildlife - are ever-thriving.

Designing the right suite of regenerative agriculture practices cannot be done without first understanding the context of a specific landscape, community, and value chain. These practices might include but are not limited to: biodiversity enhancement, soil protection and enrichment, agroforestry integration, water management improvement, human-wildlife conflict reduction, circularity practices, renewable energy solutions, and community well-being.

  • We support biodiversity by encouraging pollinators, implementing multi-strata systems, prioritising endemic species, and engaging in conservation agroforestry.

  • We partner with farming communities using a participatory design process to develop programs that ensure premium wages to farmers and that enhance access and equity within markets

  • We adopt practices that maintain healthy, covered soils, keep forests intact and integrate woody perennials for carbon sequestration. We use renewable energy in our processing plants where feasible.

  • We champion natural ingredients, avoid synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, and promote on-farm composting to reduce waste and keep nutrients in cycle.
